Alan Amaya is a designer and filmmaker studying in the MFA Media Design Practices program at ArtCenter College of Design. He explores the impacts of emerging technologies and how they’ll change the way we interact and navigate digital and physical environments. He took part in two summer research projects: Imaginaries of Work, where he crafted speculative futures for Intel; and U-Pick, examining the future of automated-agriculture as a fruit-based shopping browser. Alan was a Design Fellow with Intel Corporation for Future of Work, where he sought out ways the company could drive innovation through research and design. For two years Alan has led the social and documentation team at ArtCenter as Creative Director. He has worked as a TA for a Meta-sponsored course called Everything as Input, investigating computer vision systems actively transforming visual fields into new forms of machine sensing and controlling. His design work was featured at ArtCenter DTLA for the Parade Town: A procession of augmented realities exhibition. His films have shown at film festivals like the San Francisco Transgender Film Festival, Translations Seattle Transgender Film Festival, Les Mains Gauches in Paris and more. He also worked on design-led community engagement initiatives in San Francisco for Girls 2000 and Northridge Coop Community Garden.
